Uncle Brick took the chicklets to Kung Fu Panda, Jim’s second showing, while I worked.
Sunshine and her narcolepsy came to work with me, she claimned she had homework to do, but the energy expended on texting the BF every 5 minutes proved too much, and the project on Cambodia will have to wait till she finishes snoozing.
Anyhoo, there was a keiho, a storm warning, so I dash straight over to pick the chicks up ( no keiho and I would have maybe stopped off for dinner and a little karaoke) ,
on the way back, driving up the curvy mountain road in torrential rain, as I rounded a bend just before our house, the car ran over something.
I circled back and the tanuki, the one who comes into my garden every morning and night, the one who tries to watch Veronica Mars through the window, lay inert in the road.
I think I ran over it, I don’t think I was the actual hitter.
The kids ran to get my neighbour, who can be a total psycho nutcase with kids but great with animals, and we went back with a box and a blanket to get it off the road.
I was a bit nervous with all the kids on the side of the road in the dark and elected myself to be the person who stood on the bend to stop approaching vehicles. I escaped unscathed but possibly it wasn’t a wise move, dressed in black as I was, with a dark umbrella on a dark rainy night. One car came and I stopped it in it’s tracks, then looked ahead and the rescue team had safely reached the side of the road so I waved her on with what I thought a benign and slightly apologetic smile but in retrospect was probably rather more, stark raving lunatic in the rain.
I feel bad. The mountain is so over developed now they have lost all their natural habitat.
